FRANCE - RHONE
RHONE
The Rhone Valley in Southern France can be
roughly divided into 2 regions, the northern
Rhône and Southern Rhône. The north is the
home of some of the finest examples of Syrah
in the world, Names such as Hermitage, St Joseph
and Côte-Rôtie where winemakers blend Syrah with
a small amount of white varieties such as Viognier,
Marsanne and Roussanne, while Condrieu could be
the finest Viognier. The Southern Rhone is home
to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a name which even the
most modestly informed wine fan can call on
as a mark of quality in the region.
