FOLC Georgie Padget
Head of Distribution & Sales
Noun; Old English. It’s with this ethos that folc was born;
a wine that celebrates the joy of community. Having left behind
fast-paced City jobs at the age of 30, Elisha and Tom sought to
create a rosé that encompassed all they loved about rural English
life. Simple, pure ingredients, brought to life by the natural
rhythms of the seasons. Folc is for the hazy summer days
spent with friends; the picnics that last beyond sundown,
the al fresco dinners that last beyond dessert.
HOW WAS THE
HARVEST IN 2022?
WHAT IS SPECIAL
ABOUT YOUR WINERY?
Our harvest in 2022 was fantastic,
we work with a number of growers
in the South-East who reported
some of the best quality fruit
to date. The water stress on the
vines was optimum which has led
to a fantastic expression of floral
and fruit driven characteristics in
our wine whilst maintaining
a high yield of fruit.
We work with Defined Wine
in Canterbury and are always
transparent and responsible when
it comes to our wine-making
process. Simply by buying from
an English producer, you’re
making a sustainable choice.
Even better, our winery is one
of the few accredited with the
Wine GB Sustainability Scheme.
Sustainability is a huge focus for
us at Folc, respecting our planet
and lowering our carbon footprint
whilst not compromising on the
quality and premium feel of the
product. We have a fantastic
relationship with the team at
Defined who work to achieve
the best with each vintage.
WERE YOU INSPIRED BY
OTHER WINE BRANDS
WHEN YOU BEGAN?
We take pride in our slightly
different approach to the English
wine industry, we are constantly
inspired by the seasons and
rhythms of nature in our
wonderful country and attribute
our unique rose to our expression
of these factors. However, we
also love the idyllic ‘lifestyle
brand’ approach to wine created
by our friends in Provence.
When starting the business
we researched many Southern
French wines and subsequently
have taken inspiration from their
ability to create complexity in
wine that stands up to an array
of cuisines, whilst still being
suitable for quaffing on a warm
summer’s evening.
WHAT IS YOUR
FAVOURITE SEASON?
It has to be Summer. Folc is for
the hazy summer days spent
with friends; the picnics that last
beyond sundown, the al fresco
dinners that last beyond dessert.
“ We are massive backers
of English wine and are
always astounded by
the quality of wine being
produced in the U K. ”
