Vondeling is a family owned farm,
recognised as a Champion of conservation
and sustainability by ‘The World Wildlife Fund
for Nature’. We grow all our own grapes
and are located in a small, isolated region
called the Voor-Paardeberg near Paarl.

Small amounts of water at the correct
moment allow the grapes to ripen optimally
with good colour and a healthy acidity.
Canopy management, row orientation, crop
covers and the use of mulch help minimalise
evaporation and sunburn. We’ve invested
heavily in solar energy to harvest by way of
green energy. We’ve very pleased to have
increased our dam water infrastructure,
which allows us to capture run-off water
direct from the Paardeberg Mountains.

WINE AND WHO WOULD

My favourite wine is the Babiana.
A white blend of Chenin Blanc,
Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.
I’d share it with my wife. I’m very grateful
for all her support during the long
tough days of harvest.
